Vernacular Architect

About Dale

Dale Dibello is the Managing Principal of Dibello Architects. With over two decades of experience, Dale has become a trusted voice in residential architecture—valued for his clarity of vision, timeless aesthetic, and deep respect for the natural and built environment.

Dale’s career began with hands-on experience restoring homes by legendary Houston architect John Staub and was shaped by his mentorship under Ed Eubanks. In 2002, he led the opening of Eubanks Group Architects’ Texas Hill Country office, serving as Vice President and Design Director. In 2010, he founded Dibello Architects in New Braunfels, where he continues to create homes that reflect beauty, simplicity, and a deep connection to place.

Also a painter of Texas landscapes en plein air, Dale approaches both architecture and art with the same guiding principle: to craft spaces and scenes that invite rest, reflection, and a sense of belonging. His work has earned the trust of clients who return—and refer others—because he listens deeply, designs with integrity, and delivers spaces that feel both personal and enduring.

About Joey

Joey Kammerer is the Design Principal at Dibello Architects and has been a driving force behind the firm’s classical, place-based approach since its founding in 2010. With degrees in architecture from the University of Texas–San Antonio and a background in fine art, Joey brings both technical precision and artistic sensitivity to every project. His design leadership is evident in the firm’s distinctive body of work—drawings that are as elegant as they are intentional, and buildings that foster lasting value and a true sense of place.

Joey is also passionate about mentorship and team development, cultivating a studio culture that supports young professionals and encourages thoughtful collaboration. His love for Texas, for timeless architecture, and for the people he works with has made him a trusted and respected voice in the world of design.

Highlights from the Episode

Designing with Purpose

Architecture is more than aesthetics—it’s about crafting spaces that serve people, solve real-world challenges, and tell meaningful stories. In this episode, the conversation explores how thoughtful design can support daily life, enhance well-being, and reflect the deeper purpose behind each project. From custom homes to civic spaces, the focus is on creating architecture that endures both functionally and emotionally.

Building in Context

Design rooted in place is essential to timeless architecture. Drawing on experience across San Antonio, the Texas Hill Country, and surrounding regions, this discussion highlights how site conditions, cultural heritage, and local materials influence the design process. Regional character isn’t an afterthought—it’s the foundation. Learn how traditional forms, topography, and community needs help shape buildings that feel grounded and authentic.

Client Relationships as Creative Partnerships

Great architecture begins with listening. This episode emphasizes the power of trust, open dialogue, and shared vision between architects and clients. Instead of a top-down approach, it’s about collaboration—treating the design journey as a partnership. The most successful outcomes often emerge when clients feel seen, heard, and creatively engaged throughout the process.

Real Talk on the Process

From navigating complex permitting to aligning with contractors and consultants, the road from concept to construction is rarely smooth. Listeners get an unfiltered look at what it takes to bring an architectural vision to life. This segment covers the honest moments behind the scenes: unexpected decisions, tough conversations, and the problem-solving mindset that makes enduring design possible.

“Timeless architecture is born not from fleeting trends, but from honoring the land, culture, and craft that shape its essence”

Why It Matters

At Dibello Architects, every project begins with a clear sense of purpose. Architecture is not just about building—it’s about building well, with intention, integrity, and respect for place. This episode unpacks the core values that guide the firm’s work: designing spaces that are grounded in local traditions, responsive to the needs of clients and communities, and built to stand the test of time. Whether it’s a new custom home in the Texas Hill Country or a renovation in historic San Antonio, the goal is always the same—create meaningful architecture that reflects timeless design principles and strengthens the connection between people and place.
