Dibello Architects is a residential architectural firm designing custom homes in the Texas Hill Country since 2010. We believe in a hands-on classical approach to design unique homes for our clients. To do this, we employ a proven creative process to develop designs that deliver well on our client’s desires for their homes.

“We are drawing, we are thinking. It’s your head and your hand, and we are processing things on paper […], and the finished product is better for it.”

“We have a really great culture of learning.”

~ Spicer Emge, Senior Project Designer

Our culture of learning makes us a distinctive place to work; we want not just to hire employees but teach them essential skills that will help ensure that everyone is constantly growing and expanding their skillset. It builds them holistically into better architects.

“There is a ton of experience and knowledge that I’ve built, some from making mistakes, some from builders, contractors, and even clients, but also I got to share those experiences with new people that have come on board and guide them not to make the same mistakes.”

~ Joey Kammerer, Design Principal

Every project we work on is different, so there is always something new to learn and carry on to the next. If you’re interested in working with an architectural firm that puts a premium on quality and tradition, submit your resume to Dibello Architects today!

Mentorship Culture

When Dibello Architects was first formed, Managing Principal Dale Dibello knew that the company could only initially grow to the limits and constraints of his own time and talents. So he set out to hire talented and passionate individuals. He mentored and taught them, knowing the company would achieve greater success by multiplying on his experiences and knowledge. Joey Kammerer, Dibello Architects’ current principal designer, is one such employee hired in 2010.

“One of the things I have learned from Dale is his patience with the clients. Dale just has a calm demeanor [during client interactions, and] What makes a project special […] in the end are [the] specific things that people want and desire to have. We thought we couldn’t or shouldn’t do those little subtle changes. [But it’s] what makes it unique and theirs. I’m much more lenient to accept those things now because they don’t become a burden [on us as architects], but an opportunity to make it unique and specific to [the client’s desires].”

~ Dale Dibello, Managing Principal and Founder of Dibello Architects

About our design principal

Joey has always been an avid artist, but it wasn’t until college that he discovered his love for architecture. He received a Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University Of Texas San Antonio College Of Architecture, graduating with honors. In the past 12 years since he started working at Dibello Architects, he has grown as an individual and a professional, thanks to his mentor, Dale Dibello, the Managing Principal and founder of Dibello Architects. At Dibello, according to Joey, employees are not pigeonholed into doing specific details of a project. However, they are instead exposed to clients and all the different aspects of a client project. It builds them holistically into better architects. Joey has stayed with Dibello and achieved success in his career because of this culture of learning and mentorship fostered by Dale at Dibello. Joey, in turn, has mentored Spicer, the current Senior Project Designer at Dibello.

Spicer received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame, came to Dibello as a graduate, and stayed for the learning culture. According to Spicer, Dibello receives numerous specialized commissions, and Dale fosters a calm, focused environment that encourages the talents of the whole company combined, working towards the common goal of client satisfaction and producing unique and special architectural designs. This appreciation of the collective, collaborative force sets Dibello apart as an excellent firm for client satisfaction and a thriving workspace where ideas and individuality are appreciated and celebrated as the standard of a successful project.

Conclusion

According to Joey and Spicer, the firm’s approach to projects is the most unique thing about working for Dibello. The initial design drawings are hand-drawn plans, sections, elevations, and 3D sketches done in the tradition of work created by classically trained architects for hundreds of years. This approach recognizes the value of hand drawing as a creative problem-solving method. The same rigor is applied as the design is further developed in Dibello’s computer-drawn construction drawings and when reviewing the construction progress during job site visits. This process creates beautiful and functional homes that exceed client needs and expectations and merge perfectly with the landscape and history of the place it’s being built in.
