About the Project
Our client wanted a place that looked like it was meant to be on a ranch and not in the city. They were drawn to the classic shape and character found in old stone farmhouses in Texas, but also desired to satisfy modern needs for natural light, views and flow throughout the house.
Our solution was to create a central 1 ½ story block with the feel of an old stone farmhouse to anchor the home. We designed a light-filled living room flanked with a wall of windows on the two long sides to join the central block to a 1-story wing with dine-in kitchen, pantry, and built-in breakfast booth.
We wrapped the main living spaces with covered porches to capture the view and breezes across the Guadalupe River Valley.
The house is built to rigorous energy standards and features rainwater collection and solar panels on the rear of the garage.
