About the Project

This horse barn is part of the Texas Hill Country Style homestead we created for our clients on their ranch in Blanco County.

The horse barn is a mortise and pegged, 2 story, timber frame structure clad in a stained cedar board and batten. We used a paint grip metal roof to mimic an old zinc metal roof, and capped it off with two large functioning ventilators to help with cooling in the summer.

We laid out the plan of the horse barn in an English barn organization with large drive-thru barn doors and modular horse stalls.

The second-floor loft is reached by a timber ladder and is used to store hay bales and as a galley platform to access each horse stall from above.
